The Mayor presented Andras Varga in Year 11 with the Alderman Scott Award 2026 for his exceptional service to the community of Patchway Community School and for the outstanding example he sets to others.

Andras has consistently demonstrated commitment, determination and leadership. As an accomplished Ju Jitsu athlete, he has devoted many years to his sport, not only excelling personally but also giving back by coaching and supporting his peers when he was younger. His hard work and discipline reached an extraordinary milestone last year when he became a European Champion, an achievement of which both his school and our town can be extremely proud.

In Year 10, Andras took part in the Patchway–Gauting work experience exchange, completing his placement in a hotel in Germany. He proved to be such an excellent ambassador for both Patchway Community School and our town that he was invited to return and work there again in the future.

More recently, Andras has been enriching our local community through his involvement in drama, performing at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol and inspiring others through the arts.

Elizabeth Andrejeva in Year 8.was presented with the Twinning Award and trophy for her genuine and heartfelt love for languages. Elizabeth takes great pleasure in sharing what she has learned with both her teachers and her peers. As a native speaker of Russian, she has shown remarkable determination in developing her English.

She is currently studying Spanish at school, where she continues to demonstrate curiosity and commitment. Recently, Elizabeth has taken the initiative to teach herself some phrases in Persian, to help her to communicate with a new student joining the school and to help them feel welcome and part of our community.

Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Roger Loveridge said,’ All four of these young people at our local schools have demonstrated their commitment to study, language and the community. On behalf of Patchway Town Council, I am proud to have been able to commend these fabulous ambassadors. Congratulations!’.
