Temporary Road Closure - Merlin Road and Highwood Road

Please see notice from South Gloucestershire Council along with diversion routes for Merlin Road and Highwood Road, Almondsbury in connection with pre surface dressing patching works.

These works are anticipated to take place 23/02/2026 – 28/02/2026 between 8PM-6AM. Please note, only one road will be closed at a time.

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Various Roads, Various Wards - Surface Dressing Patching and Resurfacing) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has:-

a)closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice

b)suspended, temporarily, when the signs are covered the South Gloucestershire Council (Weight Restriction Zone - Frampton Cotterell Area) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 2001 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles

c)suspended, temporarily, when the signs are covered the South Gloucestershire Council (Down Road, Westerleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Heavy Vehicles Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 2024 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pre surface dressing and carriageway resurfacing works. The order became operative from 29 September 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 10 days duration, in respect of each location. 1.Winterbourne Road, Bradley Stoke - that length which extends from its junction with Hatchet Road Roundabout to its junction with Great Stoke Way Roundabout, and;

- that length which extends from its junction with Great Stoke Way Roundabout in a easterly direction for a distance of 640 metres

2.Merlin Road, Almondsbury - that length which extends from its junction with Lysander Road to its junction with San Andreas Roundabout

3.Highwood Road, Almondsbury - that length which extends from its junction with San Andreas Roundabout to its junction with Highwood Road Roundabout

4.Dragon Road, Winterbourne - that length which extends from its junction with Winterbourne Hill to its junction with Mill Road

5.Cadbury Heath Road, Cadbury Heath - that length which extends from its junction with Wraxall Road to its junction with Armstrong Drive

6.A4017 Soundwell Road, Kingswood - that length which extends from its junction with Leicester Square in a northerly direction for a distance of 415 metres

7.Hambrook Lane, Stoke Gifford - that length which extends from its junction with Harry Stoke Road in a north easterly direction for a distance of 280 metres

8.Church Road, Stoke Gifford - that length which extends from its junction with Harry Stoke Road in a north westerly direction for a distance of 50 metres

9.London Road, Warmley - that length which extends from its junction with Bath Road to its junction with Homeapple Hill

10.Homeapple Hill, Warmley - for its entire length

11.Riding Barn Hill, Wick - for its entire length

12.Church Road, Wick - that length which extends from its junction with Riding Barn Hill to its junction with Naishcombe Hill

13.Mill Lane, Warmley - that length which extends from its junction with Cloverlea Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 280 metres

14.Victoria Road, Warmley - that length which extends from its junction with Cloverlea Road to its junction with Valley Road

15.Tower Lane, Warmley - that length which extends from its junction with Tower Road South in a westerly direction for a distance of 145 metres
