Patchway’s sports clubs and community organisations have provided inspiring updates at the Council’s Parks, Open Spaces, Transport & Planning Committee Meeting on 9 January 2024.
Stoke Lane Football Club reported on their new kit sponsored by Parkdean Resorts with the old kit having been sent to Kulukochi United FC in the Gambia, Africa which has been appreciated by the team (see letter below). Stoke Lane are also about to submit their accreditation to become an FA Two Star team, up from the current two stars.
Bristol Jets BMX Club reported the team’s winter training is progressing well with over 40 members regularly at The Tumps BMX track, and being joined by visiting riders from Cardiff, Burnham-on-Sea and Bath. The club is preparing for the spring season including hosting the Regional Race Day in Patchway on 30 June, and a number of riders will be competing at the BMX World Championships in Kentucky, USA!
Pretoria Road Allotment Society reported that great progress was being made with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) Pollinator Project to redevelop new habitats and spaces on the site. The allotment is nearly at capacity with new plot holders coming on board, and events to replace the previous Bonfire Event in November have been extremely popular including Christmas Wreath Making and plenty of new ideas for the future.
The online BS34 Wildlife Group is going from strength to strength with over 400 members.
