Creating The Parade Underpass – November Update including bus diversion

Patchway Town Council have received an update from South Gloucestershire Council regarding the pending works for the Underpass at The Parade in Patchway.

Works are programmed to start on Wednesday 3rd January 2024 which is later than anticipated in order to coordinate with other works on the network including emergency utility works at San Andreas Roundabout.

The removal of the subway and installation of the new crossing is expected to take about 16 weeks, hopefully completed by the end of April.

South Gloucestershire Council are currently in discussion with Bromford about works to The Parade which the Council will carry out on their behalf following the main works to the subway. This information will be shared when it is available.

It is necessary to close Coniston Road at the location of the subway for the duration of the works diversion is as shown on the plan below. South Gloucestershire Council will do a letter drop to all residents and businesses within the Coniston catchment area to explain the diversion route.

The Council will also erect an information board on site before the works start including information about the diversion route and about the scheme itself.

Bus diversion

South Gloucestershire Council are in conversation with FirstBus to divert the No. 75 along Bradley Road/Stroud Rd and this will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

If people are unable to walk to the nearest bus stop there is the Westlink Demand-responsive bus service Home at https://travelwest.info/westlink/, phone 0117 457 8561. This service is free to Concessionary Bus Pass holders from 09.00 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

Temporary bus stops will be installed for the duration to shorten the distance passengers will have to walk. South Gloucestershire Council hope these measures will minimise the impact on local residents who rely on public transport to access services.
