An update on road resurfacing in Patchway

Updated: Nov 1, 2023

Over the last few weeks, many residents have come to Patchway Town Council to express their concerns over road surfaces in our area.

Patchway Town Council are not responsible for the road surfacing but have been lobbying South Gloucestershire Council to undertake visits and fit our road surfacing into their programme of work.

Please see below a statement from Mark King, the Head of Streetcare for South Gloucestershire Council, on the re-surfacing of Rodway Road.

“Our last visit was March following a previous request form yourself. This is a large site and we do not see the need for the whole needing to be resurfaced just yet. Especially with the cars parked down both sides it’s really just the middle that needs attention, although this is not considered to be especially desperate.

I admit that the speed humps don’t help the situation through here but it’s difficult to resolve this without extensive resurfacing and reapplying new humps which will be done when we do any future programmes.”

We also asked Mark King about the re-surfacing of Coniston Road and junctions off of Patchway Roundabout and this response is below.

“Sorry not currently on the proposed programme for 24/25. We are concerned about Coniston so we will have a fresh look through here on both sites.

This one may be a review after winter as well in case it suffers further.”

Patchway Town Council will try their utmost to keep this on the agenda with South Gloucestershire Council but we need your help!

If any residents have a complaint, issue or something they’d like fixed, please report this to Streetcare at South Gloucestershire Council. The more reports there are, the more chance we have of getting action in Patchway.

You can contact Streetcare through the below options:

Patchway also has four elected members to South Gloucestershire Council, who represent your views at a higher level, and they can be contacted as below.
