It was a breezy though sunny morning for the third Brabazon Half Marathon and 10k event starting and finishing at Patchway on Easter Sunday. Once again hundreds of runners from far afield as well as locally descended on Norman Scott Park for this annual fixture.
Organised by Scott Panschuk of YPB Events in partnership with Patchway Town Council, runners jerseys displayed running club names from Portishead, Caerleon, Builth Wells and Bristol as well as many individual and family runners. Runners competed in 10k and Half Marathon distances starting and finishing from Norman Scott Park close to the newly opened Hangar61 venue.
Runners were set off from the start by Patchway Town Council Town Clerk Suzanne Howard in front of a large crowd of supporters and local residents. They headed up Coniston Road towards Aztec West, through the quieter lanes and residential areas of Bradley Stoke including Willow Brook Nature Reserve, and across Patchway Common before heading back into Patchway for a full circuit of Norman Scott Park and the finish line. Half Marathon runners completed the circuit twice.
This annual event draws together runners, supporters and onlookers before, during and after the race to enjoy this now regular event for Patchway. Breakfast rolls were doing a roaring trade from Snack Attacks in the Park with home-made cakes from Little Loves Bakes very popular with returning runners.
Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘The Council is delighted this annual event has grown to become a regular feature of the calendar. Well done to everyone who took part and completed the runs. We hope to see you all back in 2027’.
Patchway Town Council and the organisers will liaise on next year’s event likely to be Sunday 4th April 2027.
