Temporary Road Closures and Parking Suspension - A38 Flyover

South Gloucestershire Council have provided the following updates regarding the upcoming works to the A38 Flyover:

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Gloucester Road North, Filton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) (Temporary Prohibition of Right and Left Turns) (Temporary Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended has made an order the effect of which has:-

a) closed, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice;

b) prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice from making a right turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule;

c) prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 3 to this notice from making a left turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule; and

d) prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle waiting at any time in the length of road specified in Schedule 4 to this notice.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon retaining wall concrete repair works and A38 flyover expansion joint, maintenance and resurfacing works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 28 October 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 12 months duration. SCHEDULE 1 - Closures

1. Gloucester Road North, Filton - southbound on slip road for its entire length.

2. Gloucester Road, Patchway - northbound on slip road for its entire length

3. A38 Gloucester Road North and A38 Gloucester Road, Patchway - that length of the flyover which extends from its junction with Hayes Way to its junction with Northway

These closures and parking suspension are anticipated to take place on the following dates and remain in place 24/7.

Parking suspension and lane 2 closure on the southbound off slip road – 19/05/2025 – 05/12/2025

Lane 2 closure on the northbound off slip road – 19/05/2025 – 29/08/2025

Road closure of right hand turn under the flyover from the southbound off slip road – 19/05/2025 – 05/12/2025

Road closure of right hand turn under the flyover from the northbound off slip road – 18/07/2025 – 07/11/2025

Some carriageway incursion on the northbound on slip road – 18/07/2025 – 07/11/2025

Full closure of the A38 flyover – 28/07/2025 – 15/08/2025  

The traffic management for these works will be in conjunction with the traffic management for the YTL works.
