Patchway to host start and finish of new Brabazon Half Marathon and 19k running event

Patchway is the start and finish line for a brand new running event on 7 April 2024. The Brabazon Half Marathon and 10k event will start in Waterside Drive with a finishing line at Norman Scott Park.

The route will take in Patchway, Bradley Stoke and Little Stoke with participants undertaking one circuit for the 10k distance, and two circuits for the Half Marathon.

The stewarded route will take runners through the Aztec West Lakes, quieter lanes, residential areas, and pathed open spaces including across The Common and around Willow Brook Nature Reserve before heading back into Patchway for a full circuit of Norman Scott Park before the finish line near the Pavilion.

The event will feature bouncy castle, live music, cakes and sweets stalls, food and drink from Snack Attacks and alcoholic drinks at the Patchway Sports & Social Club, and the opportunity for residents to cheer the runners home after their endurance feat.

This exciting new addition to the spring calendar for our town and neighbouring towns is the brainchild of local residents Scott Panschuk of YPB Events Andy Maxted of Tri-Max Events who have created running events across many places and are seeking to create one that includes their home town.

The event is partnering with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, and local partners including Patchway Town Council and Snack Attacks in the Park.

Scott Panschuk said, ‘Andy and I are local lads with a real passion for sport and the local area, we are very excited to be working alongside and in partnership with the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, local businesses and Patchway Council who have helped us pull together this exciting new running event finishing at Norman Scott Park, Patchway.’

Mayor of Patchway, Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ’It is brilliant that this exciting new event is starting and finishing in Patchway. And I look forward to seeing many residents pulling on their trainers and getting involved on the day’.

If you are interested in pulling on your running shoes on 7 April and taking part in either the 10k or the Half Marathon, more details and how to register can be found at https://www.brabazonhalfmarathon.co.uk/. The costs are £25 and £40 for each route which includes a chip timing monitor and medal.
