Patchway sports and community organisations update | April 2026

Patchway’s sports clubs and community organisations reported updates at the Council’s Parks, Open Spaces, Transport & Planning Committee Meeting on 7th April 2026.

Patchway Cricket Club reported a ‘good feeling around the Senior Teams this year’. Player Retention has been good, and the Club have signed up 10 new players. Pre-season fixtures have been arranged in the weeks leading up to the First League game in May. The Club look forward to this season with anticipation.

Patchway Cricket Club have the following Junior sides competing in the league this season - two Under 15 teams; one Under 13 team; one Under 11 team, and are also looking to run 5–8 year-old All Stars and 9-11 year-old Dynamos schemes this year. The Junior Section goes from strength to strength.

The square is looking good and preseason works are ramping up as the weather improves. A replacement water line has been installed and trench being made good as weather permits. Winter Nets are now complete, and the Club have started Summer nets in the 3G Nets at Norman Scott Park.

Pretoria Road Allotment Society reported that with the dry weather, the grass has been cut by the Council Estates Team. An Easter Egg hunt was held over the Easter weekend on site.

The WECA funded polytunnels are now a year old and working parties are now involved once a month on site, with the wildflower meadow doing well. The Coniston Primary School Gardening Club is going well with 16 enthusiastic pupils attending and supporting their school curriculum.

The Allotment now has full occupancy with 15 on the waiting list.

Stoke Lane Football Club has now completed 99% of its scheduled games for the current season against the rain in January/February and thanked both Office and Estates team for help in rescheduling games and preparing pitches. The club was also pleased to make a donation to the Mayor of Patchway’s Easter Egg Appeal; and as a Club  followed the lead by giving every player up to U14s an Easter Egg.

The Club were disappointed not to complete the full fixture for Senior Women and are seeking new players for the new season. The two U7s squads have been in great form and great results. With so many players we are to set a launch a new squad for 2026/27 @U8 (mixed). The U15s have reached Avon Youth League Cup final for the second consecutive season. The girls’ squad have established well as they were making the playing step to 11v11 and look forward to progressing next season.

As a community club Stoke Lane AFC are looking to build players and coaching, if you're interested in becoming involved as a coach then the Club can support you in achieving your awards which we will fund. We look forward to a summer break and back with extra teams using Norman Scott Park grass and 3G facilities.

Blakeney Road Allotment Society have completed installation of CCTV to ensure site safety for all users.

Chair of the Committee Natalie Field said, ‘Another really positive report from our active groups and sports teams across the town. I always look forward to hearing the successes and the developments that make such a difference to our communities and young people.’
