Landlords and Hosts needed in South Gloucestershire

South Gloucestershire Council Resettling Communities Service are seeking help with rehousing of refugees in South Gloucestershire.

They are looking for landlords or people with a property in South Gloucestershire not currently let, as well as residents of South Gloucestershire who have a spare room and would offer this as a host to Ukrainians.

They have said: ' The Home Office has been increasingly processing the backlog of Asylum seeker claims for Leave to Remain in the UK. This means that those who have fair and legitimate entitlement can pick up their lives, start working and living as part of the community.

Unfortunately, these new refugees are finding it challenging to find homes: They cannot prove though previous tenancy agreements that they are reliable and responsible as tenants,  they don’t know many people in the community, and they can’t work without somewhere to live or find somewhere to live without work.

Tenants will all receive support from our team and landlords will receive help from our Housing Colleagues.

Secondly, New Hosts for Ukrainians. The War in Ukraine shows no sign of easing, rather the signs are that things will get worse before they get better.

The Resetting Communities Team will be out and about over the next few months meeting with residents who have a spare room to offer and would consider housing a Ukrainian or a Ukrainian family. From April 2024 all residents who host will receive £500 a month thank you payment.'
