The Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) and Patchway Town Council are excited to reveal the exciting new future for the former and much-loved sports and social club building within Norman Scott Park, Patchway. After closing in October 2024, the building will re-open its doors in the next few weeks as Hanger61 bringing new life and energy to the local community.
This iconic building in the centre of Patchway’s largest park will become the latest sports venue, public bar and entertainment centre for the locally-based though nationwide and international JDC with a focus on the growing world of junior darts.
The JDC team will offer an all-year round inclusive programme of activity and darts events to include a public sports bar; and including spaces for events and local activities. The team behind the JDC are locally based, understand the local community, and are keen to engage with residents and visitors as the new enterprise welcomes people back through the doors.
The JDC are making exciting and significant investments into the building fabric with renovations and major improvements that started in late 2025 and continue into this year.
The JDC is delighted to be making the former social club building its new home and a genuine base of excellence in the sport of darts and wider services it will provide. All the community can benefit from the new venture including a new name for the club steeped in local heritage and huge financial investment that is going into the club.
Being much more than a darts venue, the Junior Darts Corporation understands the wider community and further services it can provide as the corporation has been delivering worldwide events and community projects for over 15 years. This will include additional facilities like the public sports bar and other public facilities for the wider community to explore.
JDC Chairman Steve Brown said, ‘I am over the moon with the opportunity to make a real difference to the community in Patchway and for all those that will visit from around the UK. I have played darts and football there myself some time ago and we are really keen to make the building alive and kicking again. We have some great ideas supported by some great people, of which, many are local to Patchway. Fundamentally, it's going to be a centre of excellence in our sport of darts but will be embracing all elements of the community as we keep the venue open to all. As someone that has lived in the area and fostered children over the years, I am very aware of the importance of social and community spaces that can have an impact on people as they go through life.
‘A full calendar of darts events will see the venue in full swing every week of the year. The intention is to embrace all the local community and add additional events that will be held and supported alongside the darts calendar. In addition, to sure up partnerships in the area and allow the building to be exactly what it should be - Sport and Social.’
Mayor of Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ‘Everyone at the Council is delighted and very excited to see the Junior Darts Corporation take on this important building within the town. We support the vision from the JDC on providing a venue that will not only re-open this community asset; though will add a dynamic new activity and opportunity for the town and wider area’.
