Bin there – now the Council has done it !

As part of Patchway Town Council’s proactive approach to a clean and well-presented public environment for residents, the Council has just taken delivery of 30 brand new litter bins that will be installed across the town replacing ageing and damaged old ones.

The new litter bins are in the town’s colours – blue for the streets, and red for the six Play Areas – and all proudly display a Patchway Town Council logo.

Across the next few weeks, the Council Estates team will be installing the new litter bins across the town. There will be some new locations to fill gaps and to reduce duplication with South Gloucestershire Council litter bins. The Mayor of Patchway will join the team on the installation dates.

All the new litter bins and installation costs are funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) raised via South Gloucestershire Council planning applications in Patchway in 2024 – 2025. CIL is used to support the development of a parish council’s area by funding the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure.

Did you know?

·         All new blue litter bins and existing black bins across Patchway can accept dog waste, though the preference is for dog-owners to take waste home wherever possible. The new red bins for the Play Areas are not for dog waste.

·         Litter bins are not for household waste, garden waste, cat litter or fly-tipping. The Council will investigate and report these issues when they occur. Residents using public litter bins for these reasons ultimately lead to increased costs for all residents through clearance costs and waste charges.

·         Fly-tipping is a criminal offence with an unlimited fine if prosecuted criminally, and/or up to 5 years imprisonment. Patchway Town Council actively reports fly-tipping issues and shares evidence gained with South Gloucestershire Council Enforcement Team from fly-tipped waste.
