Patchway hosts visitors from twin town of Clermont L’Herault

Updated: Apr 3

On 27th March 2024, Patchway hosted a group of students and their teachers from College du Salagou in Clermont L’Hérault, Patchway’s twin town in the South of France.

The group of 45 secondary school students and three teachers are spending a few days in the West of England and visited Patchway on their tour. The group were invited for a Civic Welcome breakfast event at Callicroft House hosted by the Town Council and Mayor of Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence giving the opportunity for the students, teachers, councillors and Friends of Patchway Twinning to talk about their towns.

The Clermont group then headed off to Patchway Community School for a day with Patchway students to learn more about school life and community in the UK.

After the school day was over, the group were kindly hosted to a tour of Aerospace Bristol with the team there able to learn more about Patchway’s strong aerospace links with France through Airbus, as well as seeing the magnificent exhibits including Concorde itself.

In the evening, the group headed to Norman Scott Park for a closing dinner at Snack Attacks who provided full roast dinner as a culinary favourite in the UK to share with our French friends. The dinner was joined by Councillors, representatives of Friends of Patchway Twinning and the Deputy Clerk.

Mayor of Patchway Cllr Dayley Lawrence said, ’It is truly formidable to welcome these young people and their teachers from our twin town in France. Building these links for our young people across international borders through twinning events will help build great relationships for now and well into the future’.
