Discovering the Natural Habitats and Wildlife of The Tumps

Patchway Town Council has commissioned an Ecology Survey of The Tumps and the areas around the BMX Track to discover the rich habitats and wildlife of one on the Town’s largest wild green spaces.

As part of the Town Council’s Local Nature Action Plan (LNAP), Rupert Higgins from Wessex Ecology started surveying on 17 March and will conclude in April as the new spring growth reveals the wide variety of ecology.

On the initial walkabout with Council officers, Rupert was able to point out bright red scarlet elf cup fungi near Turner’s Pond, and the calls of bullfinches in the treeline by Aztec West.

The completed Report will be published on the Council website and shared with the new Council and residents in May.
