Patchway's Jubilee Celebration's 2022

Patchway Town Council are set to mark this historic moment with a series of events in the Town for everyone to enjoy, There are also a number of ways to get involved with this fun-filled bank holiday weekend. You can see more about what will be happening over the bank holiday weekend below.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Tart

Patchway Town Council are pleased to be giving away over 100 commemorative mugs to children who will be leaving school year 6 in this Jubilee year. 

To mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's reign, the Council will fund the creation of these mugs to give to the school children. Each child will be presented a mug by the Town Council through our local primary schools. 

The mugs will be absolutely unique and will feature the Town Council's name alongside an image of Queen Elizabeth II.

Bingo Night

Thursday 2nd June - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

The first event to held to mark Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee will be a very fun night of Bingo and Cream Tea's at Coniston Cafe on The Parade. 

This night will be full of good old fashioned British fun as you partake in Jubilee Bingo whilst sipping on a nice cup of Tea! Grab your friends and your dabbers and head on over to Coniston Cafe!

You can book your place by contacting Coniston Community Centre below! The event is free of charge but please feel free to leave a donation at the event. 

A prize for the winner will be supplied by Patchway Town Council.

Beacon Lighting Ceremony

Thursday 2nd June - 9pm - 10pm

The second event to held to mark Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee will be the lighting of Patchway's Beacon. 

The Beacon has been moved to it's new location at the rear of the BMX track to make it more accessible. Through moving the Beacon, it means that more people than ever can now view the Beacon being lit. 

We are encouraging all residents to muster at The Parade for 9pm as we take a candlelit walk to the Beacon for the lighting ceremony. Please bring candles, lights, torches and anything else that provides lights.

The Beacon Lighting Ceremony will be held at 9:35pm. The Beacon will be lit at 9:45pm. 

 

Live Music Festival

Friday 3rd June 2022 - 11am - 9:45pm

Patchway Town Council are pleased to announce that we will be holding a live music festival in Scott Park on Friday 3rd June 2022. 

Patchway Sports and Social Club will be providing an outdoor bar and outdoor food to help you enjoy the day even more.

Bring your deck chairs and relax to the wide variety of music we have an offer to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Free Firework Night

Friday 3rd June 2022 - Display starts at 9:45pm.

Patchway Town Council are proud to announce that they will be holding a totally free firework display in Norman Scott Park to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. 

There will be a mixture of low noise and traditional fireworks all mixed to some of the best songs from Her Majesty's Seventy Year reign. 

The display is free to enter and the best viewing point will be from the field area nearest to the play area. There will be a large safety cordon in place and we ask that all residents respect this. 

We aim to start the fireworks at 9:45pm however this is very dependant on sunset and could be later. 

Patchway Sports and Social Club will be on hand to provide refreshments for all attendees, however these will be chargeable. 

We hope to see our community come out in force for this wonderful display!

 

Jubilee Quiz Night

Saturday 4th June 2022 - 7pm.

Patchway Town Council are teaming up with 2nd Patchway Scout Group to provide a big Jubilee Quiz at Patchway Community Centre.

The quiz is free to enter with Patchway Town Council donating a small prize for the winning team. There will also be a raffle raising money for local charities. 

You are invited to bring your own alcohol and some nibbles will be available free of charge on this evening. 

We can hold 20 teams in the event room and you can sign up by emailing office@patchwaytowncouncil.gov.uk with your team name and team size or give us a call on 01454 868 530.

Street Party!

Saturday 4th June and Sunday 5th June

Patchway Town Council are encouraging all residents to come out and celebrate the Platinum Jubilee by having your own street party! 

Residents can apply for a road closure order from South Gloucestershire Council, for which the fees have been waived, and will able to celebrate in their street with their neighbours. 

To apply for a street party closure visit www.southglos.gov.uk/streetclosures where you can find a link to the application form.

Organisers are reminded that applications must be submitted at least eight weeks prior to the party date, in order that the legal notice requirements can be met. Due to the speed and frequency of traffic, no closures will be permitted on A and B class roads – if in doubt please contact South Gloucestershire Council’s helpdesk on 01454 868000.
